Frenectomy
The frenectomy is a simple procedure that is used to eliminate pulling on the gum tissue from an abnormally placed frenum. A frenum is just a small fold of tissue that connects the lip or cheek to the gums around the teeth. Sometimes a frenum can contribute to spacing between teeth, or it may contribute to gum recession.
The frenectomy is usually performed with a soft tissue laser. It is a relatively simple, short procedure that is associated with minimal recovery or discomfort.
